Spring cleaning doesn’t need to be a daunting task! Follow our 5 spring cleaning tips and get started!

Tip #1

Make a schedule

When planning to clean, scope out your entire home. Address the areas that need the most work and the ares that you skip during routine weekly cleaning. Those are usually the best places to start. Make a schedule/plan and go room by room.

Tip #2

Always Work from Top to Bottom

When you think about how to spring clean your home, it’s important to always start from the ceiling down. This will force debris to the floor and keep you from having to re-do what you’ve already done! If you have a fan blade cleaner or a vacuum with an extension hose, use it to get any cobwebs and dust from your ceiling corners and fans first.

Then move on to dusting your furniture before vacuuming all the debris off your floors!

Tip #3

De-clutter

These days (thanks COVID) we are all spending more time at home and in our home offices. Decluttering our spaces is more important now than ever.

Science has proven that clutter adds to your stress levels and that there are also implications to inhaling dust.

So, when planning your cleaning, make time to:

  • Clean off cluttered counters
  • Empty out junk drawers
  • Dust and organize your office/work space
  • Organize your closets and get rid of old, worn and ill-fitting clothes

Tip #4

Think Green

Science has shown that inhaling and coming into contact with toxic chemicals is dangerous to our health. To avoid those chemicals when cleaning, use clean or green products. If you don’t want to invest in new cleaning products, you can make your own. One of the best natural combinations for cleaning is white distilled vinegar, baking soda, and water. These household ingredients are non-toxic, affordable and have worked for years when it comes to cleaning.

A green, clean, efficient, and non-wasteful tool is the Pure Sky by Persik glove. You don’t even need to add chemicals to the product, sponge, or cleaning cloth or mitt! It saves a ton of money on paper-towels and is good for the environment too! They even have an eyeglass cloth, a multi-purpose sponge, a glass cloth, and a floor cloth.

Tip #5

Don’t Forget About Your Air

One of the most important (and overlooked) parts of spring cleaning is air filters! In fact, most people don’t replace them monthly. When you replace your current standard filter with a more robust filter that has a higher MERV rating, you will be healthier all year long.

A more robust filter will catch smaller, more irritating particles floating in the air. Throughout the year (and without regular maintenance) air conditioner ducts build up dust but upgraded filters catch unwanted particles so they don’t enter your home. It is a cost effective way to make sure that your family is breathing clean, healthy air.
