Unwrap the memories with these local gift ideas that’ll last a lifetime

If you’re like me, you’re the type of mom who asks for experience gifts instead of toys or items that will end up as clutter around the house. (Although we’ve curated a fantastic gift guide full of excellent gift ideas that you can unwrap). While a toy may last for a few weeks or a year, memories and experiences last a lifetime.

That’s why I’ve put together this guide of 99 Family Friendly Experience Gift Ideas in Orlando!

Theme Parks

Some of the best theme parks in the world are in our own backyard. Theme park tickets are a great “big ticket” holiday experience gift. They certainly aren’t cheap! But its worth the splurge if you can spend it.

Disney –

Lots of options to choose from here. The park offers everything from single day, single park tickets to robust annual passes that include access and perks at all Disney parks.

Universal –

Universal also has several parks in its Orlando theme park universe. A simple day pass can get you into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or choose an annual pass to ride the attractions all year.

Seaworld –

Seaworld is a great choice for families with young children. The park has several shows, animal experiences, and Sesame Street Land for the littles. Plus, the park often offers various discounts throughout the year and has some excellent Black Friday Deals.

Legoland –

This is the park for lego fans! A great way to unwrap this experience gift is to hide the passes inside a wrapped box of legos.

Peppa Pig Theme Park –

Pre-school aged kids will thank their mummy and daddy for taking them to this new attraction in Lakeland. There are 11 attractions for them to enjoy with no height restrictions!

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay –

A bit of a drive from Orlando, but worthy of making the list for a big family gift idea. Thrill seekers will love the world class coasters that flip, dip, and speed through the various themed lands. There are also animal encounters and shows to enjoy.

Fun Spot –

It’s HUUUGGGE! My kids ask about this place every time we’re down in the tourism district. There are classic carnival rides and some big thrill attractions. Surprise the kids by actually saying “yes” to this one instead of just driving by it.

Gatorland –

Surprise the fam with tickets to this Florida classic. Gatorland doesn’t have the big thrill rides of the major theme parks, but none of the other parks have gator wrestling! It’s a great gift idea for locals and out-of-town family alike!

Water Parks

One of the benefits of living in Central Florida is that we can enjoy the water parks year round. Sometimes we run the air conditioner on Christmas morning. If that’s the case, then this is the perfect Christmas experience gift!

Slide beside the dolphins at Aquatica –

This water park across the street from SeaWorld is a local favorite. There are slides for all ages and comfort levels. Purchase it with a SeaWorld fun pass combo for extra excitement.

Like Disney, but wetter – Disney Water Parks –

Disney has two water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Both are a great way to cool off after a sweltering winter day (no, really). However, Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed for refurbishment

Gift An Explosive Surprise at Volcano Bay –

This is the water park experience for the thrillseeker in your life! You can slide down a volcano so big that it towers beside I-4. My kids always ask about it and I’m sure yours would love it too!

Legoland’s water park is a great option for all ages. When combined with a Legoland annual pass, it makes for a great option for local families that plan to visit over and over again.

Swim with the Dolphins at Discovery Cove –

Swimming with dolphins and schools of tropical fish will give your kids an experience they will never forget! While pricey, this one is a big time memory maker and if you buy tickets during their 2022 Black Friday sale, an all inclusive day is actually cheaper than a day at Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

Be a Ninja at Nona Adventure Park –

Lake Nona’s inflatable water park and obstacle course is a ton of fun for families with older kids. I mean.. There’s a section called the ‘Ninja Jump’ – I can’t think of a single kid who wouldn’t think that’s the coolest thing ever!

Book a Chef’s Table Experience –

While there are several restaurants that offer exclusive chef’s table experiences, this doesn’t have to be an extremely expensive gift. Call any restaurant to see if they can create a chef’s experience for you. We enjoyed the experience from Chef Greg Richie at SOCO Thornton Park. While fun, this is probably not a good choice for picky kids, as the menu is often chef’s choice.

You foodies will get a kick out of cooking their own meat on a hot stone at Colorado Fondue in Casselberry. The restaurant boasts fun decor and a menu full of cheese (who doesn’t love that!?)
