Orlando Moms Blog had the amazing opportunity to attend MassMutual’s event, FutureSmart. This was a collaboration with Mass Mutual and The Junior Achievement of Central Florida. The keynote speaker was none other than Hill Harper, T.V. star from The Good Doctor! Hill spoke to 2,000+ students about how they can be FutureSmart and make wise financial decisions. Hill’s energy and passion filled the room and truly connected with the students (and this mama learned some valuable info too)!
What is FutureSmart?
FutureSmart is a nationwide initiative that brings critical financial education to middle and high school students across the United States. The MassMutual Foundation believes that financial education is key to economic opportunity.
When you have an entertainer such as Hill Harper explaining the concept of smart money vs. dumb money, or encouraging the kids to build a blueprint for their future (even encouraging the kids to DM their blueprint to him via Instagram!), you KNOW the kids are connecting with this message!
Former Magic Player Nick Anderson
Former NBA Magic player Nick Anderson made a special appearance to inspire students with his personal story of his childhood. He shared the message of saving, even when you don’t have much money to save. He reinforced Hill’s message by encouraging students to make wise choices.

This simulation-based experience takes students through the financial decisions they’ll face over the course of their life and models positive financial behaviors along the way.
