The other day I was washing one of my favorite mugs and it slipped from my soapy hands into the sink.
It broke.
I was heartbroken because it was the first mug I had received as a wife. It was the perfect size mug too. So while at TJ Maxx, I was browsing around and remembered they had a mug section. Not like I don’t have enough mugs. I love them. I promise you I have around 50+ mugs. But I found one that I HAD to purchase. It was a simple white mug with the phrase, “Because I’m your mother that’s why”. I chuckled. But as I stood there, I started to dwell on those words.
I started to think about MY mother. “What have I inherited from Mom?” Could it be that I’m short and as feisty as she is? Am I just as compassionate as she is? Did I get her fighter quality? Maybe I inherited her sweet tooth?!
The older I get, the more I realize the super hero cape that my mother wore. The older I become, the more I appreciate her. As I raise my children, I want to be the best mom I can be and inspire them to be and do their best.
So today, as you drink your coffee in the mug you may have warmed up for the 20th time, think about the things you have inherited from your mother. You may even remember her saying, “Because I’m your mother that’s why!”
