Cookbook-giveawayHolidays and comfort food go hand-in-hand and no one captures the flavor of the seasons better than fellow blogger Ree Drummond, aka Pioneer Woman!

Elisabeth and I discovered PW (as she is lovingly called by her blog readers) back in 2007 when we were childfree, career women and blogs were the new “it” thing. During our “breaks” at work we would instant message each other about Ree’s hilarious posts and beautiful photography. Then, she started sharing her amazing recipes, and it was love at first sight! Fast forward to today – we are still following PW’s inspiring evolution from rural ranch mom to New York Times bestselling author and TV Food Network personality – and now we’re sharing her recipes with our daughters.

Ree’s most recent cookbook THE PIONEER WOMAN COOKS: A Year of Holidays, 140 Step-By-Step Recipes for Simple, Scrumptious Celebrations captures what holidays are really all about— cooking good food and sharing good times with family and friends. With more than 140 delectable new and classic recipes, all presented alongside her trademark gorgeous, step-by-step photographs, readers will find tried-and-true recipes that rely on simple ingredients, and are guaranteed to please family and friends. And, while these recipes are meant to make major holiday (incluing The Big Game, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Cinco de Mayo in addition to Thanksgiving and Christmas) planning a snap, they’re also quick and easy enough to become everyday family favorites.

In honor of the holidays, Elisabeth and I recently gathered with our girls for a mommy-and-me cooking/baking day and whipped up these two dishes:

applepieVWhile we found these recipes easy, delicious and family-friendly, the real treat was the opportunity they provided us to spend fun time with friends! And we’re extending that opportunity to you with today’s giveaway.

  1. Christmas is definitely my favorite! That whole week of Christmas is so much fun because my son’s birthday is Dec 22nd so it’s like one big party!

  2. I love Christmas as well! There is just something so sweet about getting together with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
