May’s Book of the Month is Finlay Donovan is Killing it by Elle Cosimano!
Book Summary:

When a book as me laughing, sympathizing with and relating to a character on the first line, I am hooked.
Finlay Donovan is a recently divorced mom of two small kids. She is way behind on a deliverable to her editor for a book she is working on. Then she discovers her ex-husband has fired their nanny because he is certain she can manage the kids AND her writing career without Vero’s help. Her morning in the first chapter is so relatable to any mom trying to get her kids to school and daycare on time.
Finlay meets with her editor to pitch the manuscript she is working on, only problem is she is making it up as the meeting goes along. Finlay’s description of the story is overheard by a woman in another booth who interprets Finlay’s story as her plan to discreetly dispose of a body. Finlay discovers a note in her diaper bag after the meeting with her editor from the other woman in the store… and it is a name and a dollar amount. The woman wants Finlay to kill her husband and dispose of him in the way she described in her book pitch!
Through moments that had me laughing out loud, Finlay has to discover who the woman in the store is, why she really wants her husband dead and most importantly, what to do when he turns up dead in the trunk of her mini-van.
This is the first book in a series. It leads nicely into the next book “Finlay Donovan Knocks ’em Dead” and “Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun.” Book four “Finlay Donovan Rolls the Dice” will be published on March 5, 2024.
