If you’re in the mad dash to get all your back to school items done, you’re not alone. In between shopping for supplies, clothes and snacks to fill lunchboxes, it’s easy to forget the one thing that your kid may need: a back to school haircut! Here’s our Back to School Haircut Guide for local salons that specialize in children’s haircuts:

Pigtails and Crewcuts

One of our favorite places to get the kids’ hair cut is Pigtails and Crewcuts in Dr Phillips. The fun, colorful atmosphere with movies playing keeps the kiddos relaxed and they love choosing which “car” to sit in. They will wet down the child’s hair in order to cut it, or they do have a wash/shampoo option. Cuts start at $19.95, and on Wednesdays, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., their haircuts are only $16.95, but you MUST mention “Toddler Time” at checkout. Kids walk away with a goodie from the treasure chest, a lollipop and a fresh new look! A second location is in Winter Springs as well.

Appointments recommended and can be booked online or by calling.
Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Closed Sundays

Pio Pio Kids Salon

This fun location has a great waiting area with video games, chalk board, play kitchen, books, and much more.

They offer a complimentary hair style for girls after their haircut, and offer fun services like hair braiding, color and highlights.

Hair cuts begin at $16.99 and they do offer bang or neck trims for less. If your child has a tangled mess from all that swimming this summer, they offer special detangling treatments and hair masks.

Hours: call to verify as website and Facebook page differ. Walk-ins welcome.

Harmony Barber Shop at Magic Kingdom

If you’re looking for a great last hurrah before school begins, combine a day at the Magic Kingdom with your child’s haircut! This quaint barber shop is wonderful with kids, keeping them entertained with small toys, gimmicks and stickers. They will even add “pixie dust” afterwards should your child (and you) want it! It’s a wonderful location for a Child’s First haircut as well, and they do offer a package which includes a certificate, lock of hair and “My First Haircut” Mickey ears.

You must have clean, dry hair as they do not offer shampoo services. A child’s haircut (ages 9 and under) is $18. A first haircut package is $25.

Appointments highly recommended, but they do accept walk-ins. You need to get there early in the day to put your name on the walk-in list. To make an appointment, call (407) WDW-PLAY. Valid theme park admission is required as well.
Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. (August 2018)

Located in the Magic Kingdom theme park, to the left of Main Street U.S.A.
