It is no secret that I love sourdough in all forms – bread, cinnamon rolls, pumpkin rolls, holiday rolls, you name it, I probably want to bake it. My sourdough starter recipe is easy to follow so you too can join me in the sourdough craze. My family also loves pizza, so of course I had to try my hand at sourdough pizza dough. The recipe is easy and is not much different from my normal bread recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 100 grams sourdough starter
  • 10 grams salt
  • 30 grams olive oil
  • 350 grams water
  • 150 grams wheat flour
  • 450 grams all purpose flour

Directions:

  1. 24 hours before you want to make your pizza – mix your starter, salt, oil and water in a mixing bowl until the starter is dissolved and is not lumpy.
  2. Add your flours and combine until the dough is not sticky. This is where it is different from the bread dough recipe as you will want to be able to use a traditional kneading method on this dough right away. Knead the dough for a minute or two until the flour is all incorporated and the dough is smooth.
  3. Let dough rest overnight.
  4. Knead dough again in the morning and then let rest until you are ready to assemble your pizzas.
  5. Stretch dough onto the pans or pizza stones you want to use. Make sure to flour or oil the surface of your pan to prevent sticking.
  6. Place dough in a cold oven and heat to 380 degrees. Once oven reaches temperature, cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Assemble toppings on pizza. I have made my own mozzarella for pizza before and it is so good! Obviously, use whatever cheese your family prefers!
  8. Return to oven for 8 – 10 minutes.
  9. Broil on high for 2 – 3 minutes.
  10. Take out of the oven and let cool before serving.
