Whether you are hosting a Super Bowl gathering, going to one, or watching at home, here are some ideas to get the kids excited for the big game.

Make team themed desserts:

Here’s a throwback photo to 2010 when my New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl. We baked sugar cookies and decorated them with colored sugars and icing. This predated Pinterest, where I’m sure you could find countless cute ideas for easy team themed desserts.

Break out the face painting kit:

I certainly got my money’s worth out of the face painting kit that I bought years ago. When my kids were small, I’d take it to the family friendly Super Bowl party and paint team logos on the kids’ hands and faces. If the logo was too hard for me to copy, I’d just paint a football in their team’s colors. Here’s the year we pulled for the New York Giants!

Make team shirts:

We have a pack of fabric makers in our craft stash (another good investment!). Buy a package of white t-shirts, set out the markers, and let the kids make their own team shirts for the game. Print out team names and logos for them to copy. You can get as creative as you like by adding other craft supplies to glue or pin to their shirts.

Make posters or signs:

We usually buy a team balloon at Publix on game day, but it is fun to decorate with our own posters and signs.  Set out the markers, crafts supplies, and small sized poster boards, and let the kids make signs supporting their team.

Kids football pool:

If your party includes a football pool for the adults, make a sheet for the kids to sign. Have small football related prizes to give to the winner each quarter.

This year we have a house divided, Broncos – 3. Panthers – 1.

Have a fun Super Bowl Sunday!
