As parents, to say that our lives are “busy” is putting it mildly. Our calendars are filled with meet the teacher nights, school physical appointments, birthday parties, our children’s sporting events, and don’t forget to get an oil change. Our lists can go on forever! One thing you can check off your list is choosing a dentist for your child. We hope this spotlight on Pediatric Dental Group will help in your decision-making!

Pediatric Dental Group

A child’s first visit to the dentist should be informative and enjoyable. Children are not born with a natural fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown so bringing them to the dentist at an early age can give them a jump on alleviating those fears. Pediatric Dental Group wants you and your child to feel at ease from the moment your family arrives at their office.

Pediatric Dental Group is committed to finding what works for your child so we can provide them with safe, stress-free, and high-quality dental care. We understand that children and adults often feel anxious about visiting the dentist so we make effort to set those anxieties to rest. We are sensitive to children’s needs, and it is our goal to make our patients and parents feel comfortable visiting our practice while we provide the best possible care!

What to expect at your child’s appointment

Every child is unique and has their own experiences that will shape how they view going to the dentist. This is why our team and doctors try to have open communication with our patients no matter the age. We want each child to feel involved and aware of their dental health along with the parents. We explain to our patients during their first visit that we will be counting their teeth to see how healthy they are, cleaning their teeth with a special toothbrush, and if needed, we may even take pictures of their teeth. What this means to the parents is that we will be performing a complete oral examination of the child with dental cleaning and x-rays if needed. Our doctors will review the x-rays, medical history. and any dental concerns with the parents. The doctor will also go over the results of the exam with the child in terms they can understand for teaching purposes and to keep them involved. Dental health isn’t just a job for parents but a team effort involving the family, the child, and the dental team. We find it very important to include both the parent and the child during each step of the appointment so everyone feels comfortable and informed. We like our surprises at birthday parties, not at the dentist’s office.

If dental treatment is needed, we will take time to teach both the children and parents ways to prevent future dental issues. Children are the best learners and we enjoy teaching them how to care for their mouth and teeth.
