Allyson

Events | Book Club FB Group Moderator

There’s so much to say about this wonderful lady. Allyson Roth is friendly, creative, and super helpful. Born and raised in southern California, she moved to Florida for her husband’s work transfer almost six years ago.

Leaving behind a teaching career, she now has been dubbed the memory maker as she stays home with her two little boys (3&6) and makes memory quilts, pillows, bears, and various crochet items. Her naken Frankenstein lady crochet bodysuit went viral. Proud momma of 3, her oldest (21) has opened her own small business in Cocoa. Seems all those years as a Girl Scout leader and taking her daughter to cookie boothing have helped pave her way as a young entrepreneur. Allyson has done so much and it shows in her compassion and creativity for her community.

She created a face mask group during the pandemic that organized volunteers to provide almost 8K masks in the area, created a women’s small business page to help promote local boss ladies, hosts community scrapbook and yarn events, and created a community haunted house committee. There’s nothing she can’t do. Follow her to see what she comes up with next.

Chenoa

Chenoa

Homeschool FB Group Moderator

A Florida native, Chenoa is originally from Miami but has been living in Maitland for 22 years with a short 2-year break where she lived in (and fell in love with) Raleigh, NC. She’s part “adopted Southern charm” with a streak of feisty Miami girl! She’s Mom to two strong-willed, preemie babies, a 25 weeker and a 35 weeker, who now are thriving big kids (6yr old girl and 3yr old boy). They have led to a hot mess parenting style that’s fueled by coffee to get through the day and wine to try and soothe the nerves at night. She’s married to her college sweetheart who she met at the University of Central Florida (GO KNIGHTS) while studying English-Creative Writing and the fine art of Greek life. She’s a DIY junkie who loves Fixer Upper (of course), loves reading, cooking and writing. When out and about with her husband, sans kids, she loves eating at new local places around Winter Park, enjoying coffee from a favorite local coffee shop or enjoying a date night at Eden Bar in Maitland. Her adventures through motherhood have included recently transitioning from full-time working Mom to stay-at-home Mom, raising a sassy, hilarious little girl and helping her silly little guy navigate some developmental delays that have challenged her to slow down and let him guide her way. She hasn’t lost hope that she can control all the things that parenting brings and her kids haven’t given up trying to prove her wrong. Her husband is the Helicopter Parent to her Free Range which is the perfect topping to the chaos of everyday life! She frequents social media and uses her Instagram to document the fleeting moments of “put-togetherness” that occasionally happen by accident…sometimes.

Lisa

Special Needs FB Group Moderator

From the Big Apple to the Sunshine State, Lisa has lived in Oviedo since 2011.  She’s the proud mom of two daughters, ages 10 and 16.  During the pandemic, she added the first family dog, a cutie named Lexi to the family.

Lisa will tell you that getting married for the first time at 40 isn’t for the weak and having her first baby at 41 was both an exciting and scary period in her life.  She’s a self-proclaimed older mom who uses her life experience as a guide in parenting.  Having adopted her first child as a single mom, she brings a unique perspective to this thing called life.

Lisa has worked with individuals with special needs for 30 years and has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Social Work.  With additional expertise in behavioral health, adoption and self-care, she’s a tireless advocate for families (especially moms and kids) who need extra support in their lives.

When not running her special education advocacy practice or shuffling her daughters to cheer and dance, she enjoys photography, crafting and checking out new restaurants.  It’s been important for Lisa to  stay connected with friends and family back home but also spending time with friends locally.

Coppelia

Coppelia is a local Orlando radio personality, wife, mom and self-proclaimed “Boricua princess!” Boricua because she was born in Puerto Rico and princess because … Disney! Her love of all-things-Disney probably started when her grandma “Abuela Mamin” brought 5-year-old Coppelia to Disney World for the first time!

She’s married to her “Boricua prince charming,” Adam, who is also from Puerto Rico. Both of their kids, their son Chris {2006} and daughter Ally {2009} were born in California. So far, Coppelia’s family adventures have taken her from Puerto Rico to California, then Texas (where she loved being a part of our sister community, the Houston Moms Blog!) She moved to Orlando in 2019 for an awesome radio gig! You can hear her on Z88.3 in English and La Z 102.5 in Spanish!

When she’s not on the radio or getting her kids to basketball and gymnastics, Coppelia blogs about family, faith and fun at coppeliamarie.com. She’s also the author of a Bible devotional called “Whole: How One Book Can Transform Your Whole Life.” While her roles as wife & mom are priority, she loves opportunities to lead worship and sing in churches and speak at Christian women’s conferences.

Orlando life is still new to Coppelia, but she loves being a Disney Annual Passholder. She and her sister Emille hit the parks as often as possible! Special Disney memories include her Disney Honeymoon in 2004 and her first RunDisney half marathon at the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend in 2015! Can’t wait to make new memories & share them with YOU!

You can follow her on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

More recently, Nancy was one of the first reporters on the ground in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017.  Over the course of multiple trips, she provided coverage of the impacts of the storm both on the island and in Florida as storm evacuees moved to the mainland.  She was also there for the political unrest that led to the resignation of the island’s governor in 2019.

Nancy also works as a public speaker and has used her reporting experience to advocate for issues including domestic violence and the challenges facing special needs kids in schools.  Nancy is a bilingual, first generation Cuban American and lives in Orlando with her husband and two children, Benjamin and Julia.
