Moving into a new season makes it the perfect time to do some deep cleaning around the home. While general cleaning gets done all year long, there are some things that only need to be tackled a few times per year, doing it with the change of the seasons is ideal. By giving the home a good cleaning as we move into fall, we can feel good knowing routine issues have been addressed. Here are 5 expert tips for Fall cleaning around the home (and a handy checklist!)

Fall Cleaning Checklist

“If you make the changing of the seasons a time to do deep cleaning you will keep on a good schedule all year long,” explains Anne Ruozzi, co-founder of Therapy Clean, a company manufacturing a line of plant-based specialty cleaning products. “This will keep your home looking great inside and out.”

Here are 5 expert tips for fall cleaning around the home (find the handy checklist at the bottom of the article):

  • Get the right products. Ensuring that you have the right products will help you do the job better and have better results. If, for example, you are giving the stainless steel refrigerator a good cleaning, then you need to use cleaner specific to that type of material. Forget general purpose cleaners, instead opting for those that are specific to the job you are doing. Opt for green cleaning products to help make the home safer and healthier.
  • Use a checklist. It’s difficult to remember what should be cleaned each season. By having a checklist you can simply go down the list and check off what has been done. This will keep you on track as you work over the course of a week or two to ensure that everything gets done. Being organized goes a long way when it comes to cleaning.
  • Don’t feel overwhelmed. It’s easy to look at the amount of cleaning that needs to be done and feel stressed out by it, but the stress will not help the situation. It will actually make it worse. Stay calm and clean on, reminding yourself that there is no rush to get it all done. You can work on a little bit each day.
  • Start from the top. When doing cleaning the pros always start from the top and work their way to the bottom. For example, start with the ceilings, chandeliers, and ceiling fans, and then work your way down. The floor should be the last thing that gets cleaned.
  • Hire help if you need to. There are many tasks that may be better to get help completing, such as pressure washing the driveway or hiring a window cleaner. It’s okay to go down the list and do what you can do, delegate some tasks to family members, and hire people where necessary.

“Most people can’t do all fall cleaning tasks themselves and that is fine,” added James Dudra, co-founder of Therapy Clean. “I realized we could develop a product which outperformed conventional brands. “The goal is to get it all done, not prove that you can personally do it. Get the products, tools, and help you need to ensure your home is in top shape.”

About Therapy Clean

Therapy Clean was founded in 2017 by a married couple, Anne Ruozzi and James Dudra. She was frustrated at not being able to find a stainless steel cleaner that she wanted to use that actually worked following a home remodeling project. She asked her husband for insight on how to make one herself, and the rest is history. The line of plant-based specialty surface cleaners has been rapidly increasing in sales online and in retail stores. To get more information, visit their site.
