If you are a fan of romantic suspense novels, Catherine Cowles is the author for you. If you have never read her work before, let me convince you to start. She has amazing talent at winding romance and mystery together, neither ever taking away from the other, only adding to your investment in the characters. Hidden Waters is the most amazing blend of the love story of Beckett and Addie as well as the threat from Addie’s past.

I loved each of the books in this series. The Tattered & Torn Series follows the Easton siblings as they each find love. I love how you get glimmers of the other siblings in each book and you already feel invested before their book begins. She also introduces characters in this series who star in their own books, so it’s one big interconnected world and I am here for it!

Hidden Waters is the third book in the series and while it could be read as a standalone, it is so much better when you know the characters from the first two books.

Book Summary:

Beckett Easton is back in Wolf Gap after his work overseas as a doctor. After a stressful couple of years, he is looking for life to slow down and comes home to take over the local doctor’s office. He moves into a house owned by his brother, Hayes. The only downside is that Hayes’ fiancee’s cousin is also living in the house. Addie is living on her own for the first time in her life. She grew up off the grid with her emotionally abusive father. She was never encouraged to branch out on her own and she’s way out of her comfort zone in this new life she’s creating for herself. At first she is cautious about Beckett in her space because she has never been treated right by men, but he surprises her at every turn as he supports her dreams of creating this new life for herself. Their friendship eventually turns romantic, but the ghosts of their past threaten to ruin their future. And when Addie’s dad takes matters into his own hands, it becomes clear that someone may not survive the standoff

Rating/Thoughts:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, 🌶️🌶️

There are a few explicit romance scenes in this book. They could easily be skipped if you would prefer.

Addie’s tragic past is also discussed and could be triggering for some.

I loved Catherine’s depiction of Addie’s past and her determination to navigate the world as she see it, not as her father believes it to be. Beckett is the most patient man and I loved getting to know about his difficult past as a doctor.

Favorite Quotes:

Her beauty was the kind that stole your breath, but it was the authenticity of it act held you rapt.

Letting me help. For the average person, it was no big deal. But for Addie, it was the first piece of her trust. And that was everything.

Beauty in the strength that carried you through. Beauty in how you refused to be broken. Beauty that you never let yourself become cruel like him. Addie, there isn’t a thing about you that isn’t beautiful.

Don’t make me do this without you.
