Sending the kids to summer camp is an exciting experience both for the kids and for me. I get to have full work days while they have full fun days! However, packing for summer camp can be a daunting task because I want to make sure that they have everything they need. Here are some must-have items for kids going to summer camp for the day or the week!

Sleepaway Camp….

Clothing and Footwear

Depending on the location and activities at the camp, the kids will need a variety of clothing. Pack enough t-shirts, shorts, and undergarments to last the duration of the camp. Also, don’t forget to pack a few warm clothes like sweatshirts and pants for cooler nights. Footwear should include comfortable walking shoes, water shoes for swimming activities, and flip-flops for showers.

Toiletries

Toiletries are essential for maintaining hygiene. Include basics like toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, and deodorant. Don’t forget the sunscreen, insect repellent, and lip balm to protect your child from the elements.

Bedding and Towels

Some camps provide bedding, but it’s always a good idea to pack an extra blanket and pillow. Your child will also need towels for showering and swimming.

Fun and Games

Remember, camp is also about having fun. Pack some games or books for downtime. A disposable camera can be a great way for your child to capture memories.

Safety Items

We love the Keep Going first-aid kit.ย This kit includes band-aids, antiseptic wipes, and tweezers. If your child has specific medical needs, ensure that they have enough medication or supplies for the camp duration.

Any Kind of Camp….

Water Bottle and Snacks

Hydration is key when kids are active in the summer heat. We love these reusable, stainless and BPA free water bottles. You can also pack some healthy snacks like granola bars, nuts, or dried fruit.

Sunscreen

Sunscreen is extremely important if the kids will be outside most of the day! We also include a sunscreenย lip balmย in the boys bags just in case.

Labels

We love to label everything! Mabel’s Labels are our favorite labels!

Remember, every camp is different, so it’s essential to check with the camp organizers to know what items are provided and what your child will need to bring from home. Happy packing!
